02/03/2026

Another New Parish Councillor.…Simon Smith was co-opted on to the Parish Council bringing our number up to quota at 7 Councillors – welcome Simon and thank you for putting yourself forward to volunteer your time for the good of the Parish!!

New Councillor Roles.…Simon Smith has agreed to focus his efforts on Planning, a handover from the previous Parish Councillor, Roger Foster, has taken place.

Children’s playground and Community space.…this project is all set for the next stage which is fundraising, once the legals are finalised which will be over the next few weeks

IDB Flood alleviation solution.…The Internal Drainage Board (IDB) have made progress over the last few months including gaining approval from the utility companies for the project, engaging with NSDC regarding the need for planning permission or allowing permitted development, taking soil samples for analysis and continuing to negotiate with landowners involved in this project both upstream and downstream of Beck St.

Pot Holes….the very poor state of the roads around the village, being riddled with pot holes, was again discussed. It was agreed to send a letter to VIA complaining about the state of the roads and requesting urgent better quality repair of the pot holes. Roger Jackson, our Notts County Councillor, told us that there is considerably more funding available for repair of pot holes in the next financial year starting April 2026.

Date of Next Meeting.…the next meeting of Thurgarton Parish Council will be on the 26th March, commencing at 7:30pm. This will be a public meeting at the Village Hall.
