50 Trees….were donated to the village by Newark & Sherwood District Council, these will be planted by the Kirks at Woodside Farm and this will make a small contribution towards the Village carbon footprint.
The Precept….is the tax that we all pay as a contribution to Thurgarton Parish through our Council Tax. Next year, 2020/21, after careful consideration of the budget for this year and next, it was decided to increase the precept by 15%. The increase was deemed necessary to assist with the cost of the Village Hall refurbishments, to assist in the funding of providing electricity to the Village Christmas tree and to add to the disposable income to be spent on the Parish for additional Village maintenance costs. This year the Parish Council received a total precept of £7935 and next year this will be increased to £9125. This equates approximately to an increase in each village household from £45p.a. last year up to £52p.a. next year, or about £1 per week.
Village Spring Clean….the date has been set for 14th March, more information to follow shortly.
Village Hall….a £50,000 grant has been awarded, with significant contributions required from both the Parish Council and the TCA, to refurbish the exterior of the Village Hall, namely the roof, the exterior cladding and new windows. Another initiative has started to look for funding for replacement of the toilets.
Date of Next Meeting…The next meeting of Thurgarton Parish Council will be on Thursday, 27th February at 7.30 pm at the Village Hall.
