The WI is all about inspiring women. It is a rich source of experiences, knowledge and skills passed down through generations and updated every day.

The WI is as relevant today as when it was launched in Britain in 1915. It is a diverse and multifaceted organisation. Its concerns are wide ranging from food poverty and microfibre pollution to mental health and loneliness. The WI is here to enable women to make a difference to the community they are part of.

Thurgarton WI has been part of the village community for over 70 years. In that time members have voiced their opinion on local topics, taken part in village events and provided lots of tea and cakes.

We are a relatively small WI with 18 members and you are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. Meetings are held in Thurgarton Village Hall on Bleasby Road, NG14 7FW on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Meetings start at 7.30pm and are relaxed and social events where catching up with each other is a priority. New ladies are welcome to pop along on the night or contact us in advance for a chat.

We have a programme of speakers for the coming year plus extra events such as garden visits , a monthly lunch club and theatre visits. We are part of the Nottinghamshire Federation of WIs who also organise events for members with the opportunity to learn, develop and pass on skills. We believe that being part of the WI is all about making friends, working as a team and having fun.
