Public Virtual Parish Council meeting….the Parish Council meeting was again held as a public virtual (on-line) meeting. Members of the public were able to join the virtual meeting, by sending a request for an invitation to the Parish Council prior to the meeting.
Thurgarton Emergency Plan (TEP)….The revised COVID-safe Thurgarton Road Closure Plan was announced. New guidance for flood wardens and road signage wardens will be distributed shortly. Approval was granted for the purchase of new gloves for the road signage wardens.
TAAC (Thurgarton Action against Coronavirus)….the village community support initiative started by the Parish Council, the TCA and the WI continues to serve 31 households in Thurgarton with shopping, prescriptions and postal services. Huge thanks and appreciation were sent to all TAAC Volunteers who are now into their 14th week of service. Community Speed Watch (CSW)….are once again in action after a review and adopting a few COVID-safe measures. As before, the CSW volunteers will be physically supported by Police Officers from time to time and it is the Police who decide on any actions taken against motorists who are recorded speeding, by also taking into account any other transgressions within Nottinghamshire Police area. Many thanks are sent to the CSW Volunteers for their efforts in trying to keep the Parishioners safe from speeding motorists.
Parish Council spend in 2019/20….a review of budget figures for 2019/20 was made, comparing these to the actual spends across the various categories – Administration, Emergency Measures, Planning, Highways and Broadband, Village Hall, Communication and Environment. Overall there was very little difference in figures between budget and actual spend with the exception of one extraordinary item – the purchase of a pump for £400 which had not been budgeted for. The pump will be paid for from Community Infrastructure Levy funds.
Village Hall….Village Hall refurbishment work is now well underway and is due to complete, inside and outside, by the end of August.
Environment….Despite the weather, lots of both rain and sunshine, there has been a lot of work and the village is looking very well maintained.
