Queens Platinum Jubilee Village Fete….the Thurgarton Fete on Friday, 3rd June was a huge success. With 300-400 people attending this event, the planned sections of the Dog Show, a Rounders match and the Tug-of War competition were well attended and enjoyed thoroughly by most. The Cake Stall sold out of cakes, the BBQ sold out of food and the bar almost ran dry!
This event was arranged by the Thurgarton Community Association in conjunction with the Parish Council and thanks are extended to all of the many volunteers, and to the Cricket Club, who helped to make this event a success. Although entries to the events were free we were able to donate a total of £661 to the Nottingham Ukrainian Association with monies from the food and drinks and of course proceeds from the Cake Stall.
Strategy Meeting….was held on Thursday 16th June, matters under discussion included how VAT is claimed and paid for by the PC & TCA, the Village Hall as a Community Asset, the Budget 2022/23, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), a survey to establish a new Parish Plan for 2022-24 and a 2nd Defibrillator for the village.
Parish Plan 2022-24….it was agreed that the PC should establish a new Parish Plan for 2022-24. Katie Chan to lead this initiative and to start it by running a survey of all parishioners to gauge what people would like.
Defibrillator….it was agreed that the PC should purchase a 2nd Defibrillator for the village and suitable grants be investigated to cover the cost.
Date of Next Meeting.…the next meeting of Thurgarton Parish Council will be on Thursday, 22th July at 7:30pm, this will be a public meeting at the Village Hall.
