Thurgarton Parish Council Meeting 24th March

27th March 2022

Duck Race….after a 2 year Covid related absence, and by popular request, the Duck race will again take place on Easter Monday at midday on the Beck. This time the charitable donation will be for the Ukrainian people via the DEC Disasters Emergency Committee. More information to follow shortly via village email.

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – Save The Date….All parishioners are invited to attend the Thurgarton Fete on Friday, 3rd June which is being arranged by the Parish Council and the Thurgarton Community Association. There will be a series of events held at the cricket pitch to celebrate this momentous occasion. More details to follow.

Village Spring Clean….has been postponed until May due to the surge in COVID cases

Village Hall….a new path has been laid at the Village Hall utilising materials donated by Forterra. Thanks have been sent to Forterra for their generous contribution. The next project is to replace the gate and front doors at the Village Hall.

New projects…. the Parish Council have set-up a working party to:-

  • investigate a suitable area of land to site a childrens’ playground for the village
  • investigate a village communal space for planting trees and to socialise
  • consider how we might improve the carbon footprint of the village and residents

There have now been 2 meetings and progress and comments have been and will be communicated via Thurgarton People, village email and PC meetings.

Date of Next Meeting.… the next meeting of Thurgarton Parish Council will be on Thursday, 28th April at 7.30 pm, this will be a public meeting at the Village Hall.
