Precept….is the tax that we all pay as a contribution to Thurgarton Parish through our Council Tax. Next year, 2022/23, after careful consideration of the budget for this year and next, it was decided to increase the precept by 15%. The increase will amount to around an additional 15 pence per week, per household, on average and was deemed necessary to assist with the funds to be spent on the Parish for additional Village maintenance costs. This year the Parish Council received a total precept of £10,494 and next year this will be increased to £12,068. This equates approximately to an increase in the average village household from £1 to £1.15 per week.
New projects….the Parish Council are:-
- investigating a suitable area of land to site a childrens’ playground for the village
- investigating a village communal space for planting trees and to socialise
- 7 parishioners have volunteered their time as part of a working party to consider how we might improve the carbon footprint of the village
A meeting at the Village Hall is arranged for Thursday 3rd February, to commence at 7pm, all who would like to assist in any of these projects, or who have ideas about these topics are invited to attend.
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee….the Parish Council and the Thurgarton Community Association are arranging one or more suitable events during this long weekend in June, 2nd to 5th June, to celebrate this momentous occasion. More information to follow, of course all parishioners will be invited to attend.
Date of Next Meeting.… the next meeting of Thurgarton Parish Council will be on Thursday, 24th February at 7.30 pm, this will be a public meeting at the Village Hall.
