Thurgarton Parish Council Meeting 28th November

02/12/2019

Recent Flooding – On 14th November Thurgarton experienced flooding problems. Parishioners living in Beck St., Bleasby Rd. and The Park reported problems to the Parish Council and many volunteers assisted. The Thurgarton Emergency Plan was triggered and as a result flood defences were erected in time, Beck St was closed to traffic and sandbags were delivered to flooded properties on Bleasby Rd while volunteers slowed traffic through the flooded road thereby preventing further flooding of properties.

On behalf of the Parish Council and I am sure on behalf of the entire village, can I say a big thank you to the Thurgarton Emergency Plan volunteers for all their efforts when the village really needed them

Emergency Plan – The Thurgarton Emergency Plan requires more volunteers so that we have parishioners that can be trained and called upon when needed. Please consider volunteering, men and women of all ages are already volunteers. If you would like to know more about this please contact me attina.tsoukatos@hotmail.co.uk

Speeding – One of the key Parish Council objectives for this year 2019/20 is to address the ongoing problem of vehicles speeding through Thurgarton. Whilst longer term speed calming measures are being pursued with Notts County Council Highways, a Community Speed Watch (CSW) group was set up liaising with Notts Police. As a result, a speed radar gun was purchased by the Parish Council, volunteers were requested and came forward and were trained by Notts Police.  CSW teams in Thurgarton commenced full sessions at the beginning of July 2019 and since then over 850 vehicles have been recorded as exceeding the speed limit and have been reported to Notts Police for further action.

On behalf of the Parish Council and I am sure on behalf of the entire village, can I say a big thank you to the Thurgarton Speed Watch volunteers for all their efforts in making Thurgarton a safer place to live.

Date of Next Parish Council Meeting…the next meeting of Thurgarton Parish Council will be on Thursday, 23rd January at 7.30 pm at the Village Hall.
