Thurgarton Parish Council (TPC) Meeting 24th September

28th September 2020

Public Virtual Parish Council meeting….the Parish Council meeting was again held as a public virtual (on-line) meeting. Members of the public were able to join the virtual meeting, by sending a request for an invitation to the Parish Council prior to the meeting.

Resignation of Parish Councillor…. all Parish Councillors were sad to hear of the resignation of Steve Edkins from the Parish Council and wished to extend their thanks and gratitude for all the ahard work that he has put in during his time on the Council and that his contribution is much valued by all.

Vacancy for new Parish Councillor….following the resignation of Steve Edkins the Parish Council is looking for another parishioner to join the team. Thurgarton has a very active Parish Council, which meets each month excepting August and December, on the fourth Thursday of the month. Meetings are currently being held virtually. Community Speed Watch (CSW)…. 5 x 1 hour sessions have been undertaken between 23rd July and 24th September – a total of 199 drivers had been noted as speeding at over 36mph, 129 at 36-40mph, 59 at 41-45mph, 9 at 46-50mph and 2 at 51-55mph. Those undertaking these CSW sessions are to be congratulated on helping to control the speeding of traffic through the village.

Village Hall….Village Hall refurbishment work is now complete and the Hall will be open from 28th September. The Hall is fully COVID-19 compliant including having the track and trace QR code. The Parish Council thanked the TCA for their excellent work in organising the full refurbishment of the Hall.

Environment….the footpath at the top of Priory Lane steps has been repaired by Notts CC, and this year’s Autumn village clean-up has been cancelled due to COVID-19 and the rule of 6.

Date of Next Meeting…The next meeting of Thurgarton Parish Council will be on Thursday, 29th October at 7.30 pm, this will be a public virtual meeting, members of the public who would like to join the meeting should send their details to clerk@thurgarton.org.uk
